The Vocational and Technical Education Activities conducted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality aim to train qualified personnel in areas needed by the local labor market. In this regard, they contribute to reducing unemployment and increasing employment in Izmir. Free courses are offered in 35 different fields and 215 branches in the city center and surrounding districts, providing citizens with vocational knowledge and skills. The trainings are planned to support local development.
The goal is to provide vocational trainings that directly support employment and meet the qualified workforce needs of various sectors. These trainings are carried out in cooperation with universities, the Provincial Directorate of National Education, professional chambers, civil society organizations, the Izmir Provincial Directorate of the Turkish Employment Agency, and other public institutions.

Yes, attendance is mandatory. Students who leave before the end of the lesson or who do not attend class will be marked as absent in the attendance register. Students who are absent for more than 1/5 of the total course hours, with or without a valid excuse, will be considered absent.
When the number of trainees reaches a sufficient level, the relevant group is opened and registrations close. Registrations remain open for branches where there is no demand. New course announcements are made online.
Trainees can apply to more than one branch in the field they have chosen in a course period, provided that the course hours do not overlap.
Applications are evaluated in order of application date. Due to the nature of the institution and program, the high number of applications, and similar reasons, an exam or pre-evaluation may be conducted for course admission. Applicants may be contacted by phone to be invited to the relevant course center for final registration. Therefore, the accuracy of the phone number shared during registration is important.
Courses can be organized according to two types of certificates. Every trainee who successfully completes courses opened in cooperation with the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning receives a "Course Completion Certificate" from the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning of the Ministry of National Education, while every trainee who successfully completes other courses opened within the Vocational Factory receives a "Certificate of Participation".
